Masterson’s Lounge, positioned in the vibrant core of Moonee Ponds, advertises itself as a stylish, alternative venue , but my latest trip at this establishment quickly devolved into an unforgettable, terrible experience. While the bar may appear inviting from the outside , what I discovered behind its threshold was disturbing and far below any standard .
The State of the Venue : Squalid and Disregarded

The floors were sticky , and a nauseating aroma of old alcohol and neglected washrooms filled the entire venue . Reeking of a mixture of ammonia , decay and sour vomit . The serving zone , which should be the focal point of any pub, was cluttered with dirty glasses and litter that looked like it hadn’t been touched in ages . The toilet was in even a truly awful state—overflowing , with a snapped lever and walls covered in what I can only assume was fecal matter .
